Obuasi Sister City Fashion Show

Obuasi Sister City Fashion Show

The IRC is an affiliate of the Sister Cities International Organization, a non-profit network dedicated to creating harmonious partnerships between U.S. and foreign cities to increase global understanding.  Sister Cities brings together citizens and influential world leaders to promote cultural and educational bonds and global economic development.

In 2008 Riverside and Obuasi, Ghana became Sister Cities.  One of eight sister cities in Riverside, the Obuasi Sister City committee will host an African fashion show to raise money to develop a student exchange program between the two cities.  The fashion show will be held May 12, 2012 at 2 p.m. on the 7th floor of City Hall (Grier Pavilion) at 3900 Main Street, Riverside CA 92501.  This outdoor patio overlooks the city of Riverside, a perfect location to showcase the beauty and diversity of the African diaspora and our community.

The cost is $25 per ticket and will feature a guest speaker on African affairs, diverse African cuisine and a rainbow of regalia hailing from various African countries.

A souvenir booklet is being compiled as a memento of the event.  Vendors and door prizes will also be available.
